Blanche Sosland spent most of her teaching career at the college and university level, but she also taught in classrooms ranging from early childhood, Headstart, through middle school.  Her areas of expertise include diagnosis and remediation of reading problems in the classroom and the identification, evaluation and intervention for twice exceptional children who are both gifted and learning disabled.

She was a speaker for the Missouri State International Reading Association Speakers Bureau and a frequent presenter at state and regional IRA conferences.  Dr. Sosland was also a regular presenter at Missouri Learning Disabilities conferences on the topics of reading and bullying issues.  Her presentations include one in Budapest at the first People to People Reading Conference.

She has served on several Missouri State Department of Education Evaluation teams.

Dr. Sosland served on the Education Committee of  the Nelson Atkins Museum of Art and was a member of the Truman Library Education Committee during the creation of the White House Decision Center.

Dr. Sosland earned her BA from Barnard College and Columbia University, her MA and her Doctorate in Reading Education and Psychology from the School of Education at the University of Missouri-Kansas City.

Grandparent of 15 grandchildren, grandparent of one “grandson by marriage” and 3 great-grandchildren.
